The importance of cleanliness
Our skin is the largest organ in our body, our "protective barrier" against the outside. Every day, you are exposed to many factors such as pollution, lack of sleep, the sun or tobacco smoke. All of them affect, to a greater or lesser extent, our skin, weakening it, dehydrating it, aging it ... etc. And yes, against all of them, cleanliness must be our great ally!
Although it may seem like a simple matter, when it comes to facial cleansing, we make more mistakes than we think. According to a global survey carried out by CeraVe *, 60% of women have gone to bed at some point without having removed make-up, and 40% of men wash their faces with just water. These errors, which seem insignificant, directly affect the health of our skin.
When do we have to clean our faces
The ideal is to clean our face twice a day: once in the morning, when we wake up and another at night, before going to bed. If you think you wake up with a clean face ... mistake! During the night, the skin secretes more oil than during the day and accumulates dirt from the sheets and pillows.
In the morning, with cleaning, we remove dead cells, the remains of products applied the night before and purify our skin, preparing it for makeup or our usual treatment. At night, we must remove excess makeup and clean the face thoroughly because dirt accumulates from pollution, sweat, etc.
How to choose a facial cleanser
Did you know that 40% of people don't know the right cleanser for their skin *? Believe it or not, not all soaps work. We warn you, stay away as much as you can from body gels, hand soaps or abrasive products, they are the enemies of your face!
The first thing you should do is identify your skin type: normal, combination or oily, dry or sensitive. Ideally, you should consult a specialist who can help you confirm that what you think is correct. When you know what your skin type is, you should choose a suitable facial cleanser.

Types of facial cleansers
Surely many times you have had doubts such as: what is the difference between micellar water and tonic? Is a gel the same as a cleansing milk? We review the different types of cleaning products, so you don't have any more doubts!
- Gels: they can be sparkling or with a creamy texture. They are applied to a damp face and rinsed off with warm water.
- Cleansing milk: its texture is creamy and does not foam, but works like gels, applying them to the face and rinsing them with warm water.
- Micellar water: composed of molecules called micelles that trap dirt. It is applied to the face with a cotton ball.
- Exfoliating: it is a gel with small particles that help remove dead cells from the face. It is applied to a damp face and gently massaged for a few minutes, then rinsed off with warm water. Ideally, exfoliate the skin once or twice a week, but not every day.
- Tonic: it is a liquid solution that rebalances the pH of the skin after cleansing. It is often confused with micellar water but it is not the same!
Remember to repeat your cleansing routine every morning and every night, so that your face looks bright and radiant, free of impurities and dirt particles. 1. The ideal is to wash the face with a gel that does not alter the natural barrier of our skin, and that cleanses thoroughly but does not dry out. 2. Afterwards, we can apply micellar water with a cotton ball to completely remove the few traces of dirt that may have remained. 3. We tone the face with a tonic suitable for our skin type.
